On 24 September 2007, Rahul Gandhi was appointed as the General Secretary of the Indian Congress Committee.

In the year 2008, Rahul Gandhi took important steps to reform youth politics and for its expansion, about 40 members were included in the Youth Congress. During this, an increase of about 25 thousand members was registered in the Youth Congress.
