On asking questions about the means of Shaunak ji, Sut ji told him the excellent glory of Shiv Puran.

     Shri Shaunak ji asked - Great knowledgeable Sut ji! You are the knower of all principles. Lord! Tell me specifically the essence of the stories of the Puranas. How does the increase of wisdom that comes from devotion, including knowledge and dispassion, increase? And how do sages get rid of their mental disorders like lust and anger? In this terrible period, the creatures have often become demonic in nature, what is the best way to make those living communities pure? You tell me at this time any such eternal means, it is the most excellent and supreme happiness even among the welfare things. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

       Be effective and among those that purify, also the best sacred factor should be the remedy. That! This instrument should be such that the ritual of which leads to a special purification of the heart and the person with a pure image can attain Shiva forever.

     Shri Sut ji said - Muni, the best of Shaunak! You are blessed; Because there is a special love and longing in your heart to listen to mythology. Therefore, after thinking with a pure intellect, I describe to you the most excellent scripture. Child! He is endowed with the principles of all the scriptures, increases devotion etc. and pleases Lord Shiva. Rasayana for the ears is nectar and divine, you listen to it. and listen! That is the most excellent scripture - Shiva Purana, which in earlier times only Lord Shiva used to discourse. This is the best means to destroy the great distress that comes from the snake of Kaal. Gurudev Vyas, after receiving the instruction of Sanat Kumar Muni, has rendered this Purana in a nutshell with great respect. The purpose of love of this Purana is - the means of ultimate benefit to the human beings born in Kali Yuga.

     This Shiva Purana is the most excellent scripture. It should be understood as the Wangmayi form of Lord Shiva even on the ground floor and should be consumed in every way. The reading and hearing of this is by all means entirety. With this, a person who has reached the highest position after getting Shiva devotion, soon attains the position of Shiva. That is why human beings have desired to read this Purana by making full efforts – or have considered its study as the desired means. Similarly, listening to it with love is also going to give full desired results. By listening to this Purana of Lord Shiva, a person becomes free from all sins and after consuming the great people in this life, finally attains Shivaloka.

     This book named Shivpuran is comprised of 24000 verses along with it. A man should be endowed with devotion, knowledge and dispassion and listen to it with great respect. This divine Shiva Purana consisting of seven samhitas is seated like Parabrahma Paramatma and gives the most excellent movement.

     The one who distributes this Shiva Purana with constant research and only recites it with love regularly, is a virtuous soul - there is no doubt about it. Lord Maheshwar, who is very pleased with the person of perfect intelligence who listens to this Purana with devotion at the end of time, bestows his abode to him. One who worships this Shiva Puran with reverence every day. After enjoying all the pleasures in this world, he finally attains Shivaloka. One who is devoid of laziness every day, worships this Shiva Purana with silk clothes etc., he is always happy. This Shiva Purana is pure and everything of Lord Shiva. One who wants happiness in this world and also in the hereafter, he should consume it with respect and effort. This pure and perfect Shiva Purana is the one who gives the four Purusharthas in the form of Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. Therefore, it should always be heard with love and specially recited.
